Jeff Klymson is the Founding Principal of Collective, directing all creative and technical aspects of the practice. Mr. Klymson is an AIA Licensed Architect and Adjunct Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture in Chicago. Mr. Klymson holds a Master of Architecture degree from IIT and a Bachelor of Architectural Science degree from Ryerson University in Toronto.
Jeff Klymson created Collective to focus on practice and research. The practice provides a project specific, detail oriented, process. We employ this process for commercial, residential, and consulting projects. We aim to challenge convention and push boundaries, asking questions at every stage of our detailed process. The principle focus of Mr. Klymson’s research is the convergence of architecture and the branded world. He aims to use this idea to create a more intuitive connection for people in the built environment.
Carlo Parente is a Design Principal for Collective, directing all creative aspects of the practice. Mr. Parente is a licensed architect and educator who has designed award-winning projects in North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Parente’s work is guided by a holistic approach, which integrates performance based design and new technologies. He is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He holds a Master of Architecture degree from IIT and a Bachelor of Architectural Science from Ryerson University in Toronto.
Prior to joining Collective, Parente was a senior designer at leading firms in Chicago and in his native Toronto. At Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, he led design efforts for a number of AS+GG’s award-winning projects, including educational, residential and mixed-use projects and Master plans.
Dylan Otte was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He spent his first two years of college studying music business, before transferring to Illinois Institute of Technology to pursue a Bachelors of Architecture. Prior to starting at Collective Office in 2016 Dylan worked for Dearborn Architects in Chicago on commercial and residential projects in the midwest. During his Spring-Summer 2016 semester at IIT he traveled to Chile with the Design-Build Program to complete a pavilion for a small rural community. Dylan’s position at Collective Office allows him to help with all aspects of the architectural process.
Aside from studying and practicing architecture Dylan enjoys going to concerts, cycling and catching up on Seinfeld re-runs.
Jeff was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. After spending his first 18 years in Indonesia, he decided to escape the tropical weather to pursue his Bachelor or Architecture degree at Illinois Institute of Technology at Chicago. While studying at IIT, Jeff Widjaja was awarded the International Scholarship and Samuel Horwitz Scholarship Award (2011). Jeff Widjaja spent the Fall Semester of 2013 in Dublin, Ireland as part of the student exchange partnership program with the Architectural School at the University College of Dublin.
Aside from architecture, Jeff enjoys the sport of climbing and is secretly learning how to write code. Jeff joined Collective Office in the Summer 2014 to assist with all aspects of the process.
