This home in Chicago's Lincoln Park blends the vibrancy of living in a city and the serenity of nature. The front of the home is pure in form, enough to be a bold insertion in the neighborhood while using Chicago common brick in a subtle nod to the historic homes nearby. Combining two lots allows us to create a spacious home that wraps around its sprawling backyard, infused with a landscape that supports a life lived outdoors. All areas in this home maintain a dialogue with the exterior where entertaining spaces directly spill out into the backyard. The interior boasts a courtyard that connects to the living spaces on the first floor and the master bedroom on the second floor, while the bedrooms overlook the backyard.

Providing built in millwork that continues along the perimeter of the living spaces provides a free and open space, free of unnecessary elements, open for anything life brings. Defined spaces spill into one another, morphing into different uses as you move through. We have focused on creating a home that uses spatial configuration to promote a sense of discovery, that uses light and natural materials to harmonize with the surrounding landscaping, and uses the building's form to add layers of nature into an urban environment.
